I am so blessed to have known you

To have been graced with your words of knowledge,

To have seen your smile that illuminated the darkest places in my soul

To have heard your laugh that radiated pure joy

I am so grateful to have been your best friend’s sister

To have memories from every winter holiday with you

To remember our games of dreidel and dinners of latkes

And this pain I feel is overwhelming and constant

But where would I be if I had not known you?

I would take on any agony to keep these memories of you

You were a gift; a genius; a kind-hearted old soul

And I will love you always—as a brother, as a friend, and as the perfect example of a truly good human being
