To Jordan
by
Keely Burkey
Only with you could I talk about
beauty,
because only you could appreciate
the delicate aesthetics of life.
We would bookmark elegant thoughts,
and save them just for us. You
celebrated
life’s simple gifts with me:
the color of light shining through
green leaves;
the flow of shades inside a flame;
the fact that nothing is more
perfect
than the shifting faces of our sky.
Now, when I see a subtle gift,
and can’t share with you its grace,
I get the sneaking feeling
you’ve just shared it with me.

Keely, thank you
for this wonderful insight into this
part of Jordan's personality and
soul that you were able to see and
now share with us.
We are happy that he had a friend
that he could admire with world
with.
Keely is one of Jordan's friends
from Reed College. He always talked
about what a gifted poet she is.
Here's the proof. Many people that
have read this believe it will be
published someday in a book of Keely
poems. We wouldn't doubt it. Keely
and his other Reed friends helped
Jordan get the education of a life
time at Reed College. Because of
them, Reed was the absolute best
college for him. Our one word of
wisdom for Jordan as he began his
college career was to pick his
friends well. And that he did. He
picked the very best. |
